The 3rd phrase has these 4 dialog words ... ei exei eis apartismon ["(to see) if he-has (enough) for (its) completion."] The 4 words are top down. The English translation has three understood helping words to make the phrase grammatical to the ear. The green-eyed man could not pebble the cost. The two brown-eyed men have cut the 100 pebbles into halves, quarters, and 1/6 ths where needed to fill the tower. Amazingly, the 100 pebbles (denarii) that filled the hexagon now exactly fill the tower, the same number the two brown-eyed men assumed in the previous diagram. Here is another proof: The hexagon contains 2 equilateral triangles and 4(30-60-90 degree right triangles) filled with 66+2/3rd pebbles. Under the hexagon is one equilateral triangle and 2(30-60-90 triangles) = 4(30-60-90 triangles filled with 33+1/3rd pebbles. But one equilateral triangle = 2(30-60-90 triangles). Therefore there are 4 right triangles under the hexagon that are mirror images of the 4 right triangles inside the hexagon. Adding them together fills the hexagon with 66+33+ 3/3rds = 100 pebbles. Therefore the tower has the same area as the hexagon. Therefore, the cost to build the tower is 100 silver denarii. Luke 14:28b < Verses > Luke 14:29a |
