The 5th through 7th phrases have these 2 narrator and 7 dialog words, ... legei autō, Nai kurie, su oidas hoti filō se (He says to him, ... "Yes Lord, you know that I-am-fond of-you"). The 9 words are bottom up. After Jesus was arrested, Simon denied Jesus three times. Simon was not showing love or even fondness to Jesus when he denied knowing him. Jesus will now remind Simon of his betrayal by asking him three times if he loves him. Simon was probably so embarrassed by this question that he could not get the word agape (love) out of the Spirit of John, his mouthpiece. Simon can only save face by not directly answering the question. The diagram shows Simon needs the Spirit of John the Baptist (2220) to do his talking for him. Behind him are toutōn (these-ones), the six sheep, who have finished their breakfast, of whom he is also filō (fond). Jn 21:15b < Verse > Jn 21:15d |
