The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd phrases contain these 10 narrator words ... Tauta eipōn, eptusen chamai, kai epoiesen pēlon ek tou ptusmatos (These-things having-said, he-spat on-the-ground, and he-made clay out-of the spit, ...). The 10 narrator words are bottom up. The first two words Tauta eipōn (Having-said these-things) having worked from the top of the diagram now work from the bottom up. The next 2 words eptusen chamai (he-spat on-the-ground) are tangent to the "spit on the ground." The next 3 words kai epoiesen pēlon (and he made clay) are tangent to the intersection point of the hands of Jesus mixing the ground with spit to make clay. The last 3 words ek tou ptusmatos (out-of the spit) are exactly tangent to the stream of spit coming from the mouth of Jesus. In verse 14 we learn Jesus did this on a Sabbath. The act of spitting and making clay with his hands is doing "work" which is breaking the Sabbath. Jn 9:6a < Verses > Jn 9:6c |
