Verse 19 has 4 phrases and 22 narrator words. The first phrase has these 8 words ... elēlakotes oun hōs stadious eikosi pente ē triakonta (having rowed therefore about stadii twenty five or thirty, ...). The 8 words are top down. This verse is purposely ambiguous. It has no stated subject. The verb elelakotes (having rowed) followed by a term of distance states how far the boat has travelled since the disciples stepped into the boat till it was stopped by a great wind. Since Jesus is blowing the wind, the word stadious (stadii) a unit of measure, could be code for the size of his face (888). Because this is a gematria story first, and a history report second, the text shows where the signs need to be drawn. The diagram shows the 5 words oun hōs stadious eikosi pente (therefore about stadii twenty five) is tangent to the "25 stadians" inside the hexagon enclosing the boat, disciples, and the wind. The 2 words ē triakonta (or 30) represent the additional "5 stadia circles" (888) the boat has travelled outside the hexagon since they began their journey. The diagram now matches the imagry of the text. Jn 6:18 < Verses > Jn 6:19b |
