The second and third phrases of verse 45 have these 3 narrator and 6 dialog words ... kai legei autōi, Hon egrapsen Mōusēs en tō nomō (and he says to him, ... "He whom wrote of Moses in the Law, ..."). Diagram 1: The first phrase of 3 narrator words is top down. The words "kai legei" (and he says) is tangent to Philip. The word "autō" (to him) is tangent to Nathanael. Philip has now found Nathanael sitting under the fig tree. Verse 45 contains 17 words of dialog said by Philip to Nathanael, a number foreshadowing the prophets of the Jewish bible. Diagram 2: The 6 dialog words are top down. The first 4 words "Hon egrapsen Mōusēs en" (He whom wrote of Moses in) is tangent to a white equilateral triangle enclosing Moses. The last 2 words "tō nomō" (the Law) is also tangent to a white equilateral triangle. All abstract nouns, such as "the law," by convention take the sign of an equilateral triangle. The color of the triangle depends on the context. Good signs are white, bad signs are black. The Law of Moses is the first five books of the Old Testament. The Jewish Bible, called the Mikra (what is read), is also known as the Tanaka (The Law, the Prophets, and the Writings). Jn 1:45a < Verse > Jn 1:45c |
