Verse 44 has five phrases and 21 dialog words. The 1st phrase has these 7 dialog words, ... Pantes gar ek tou perisseuontos autois ebalon ("Everyone for out of the abundance of them cast in, ..."). The 7 dialog words are top down. This verse uses gematria to show how the widow cast in more than the average contribution of the scribes. The word "Pantes" (Everyone) here refers to the two rich scribes and the two not rich scribes. The text says they only cast in from their abundance. The 2 rich scribes owning 3 triangles full of leptas are casting in 4 leptas. No leptas were cast in from the bottom triangle. The 2 scribes who were not so rich only cast in 1 lepta each from the two triangles full of leptas they owned. The diagram shows the four scribes collectively were casting in 6 leptas to the treasury from their abundance, an average of 1.75 leptas each. This diagram proves the widow cast in more than all the miserly and stingy scribes casting in to the treasury! The imagery of the text perfectly matches the diagram. 12:43c < Verses > 12:44b |
