Mk 8:34c ... "(then) let him deny himself, ..."

Mark 8:34c

The third phrase has these 2 dialog words ... aparnēsasthō eauton (let him deny himself, ...).

The 2 dialog words are held by Jesus tangent to the top of the triangle holding the man denying himself. The next three commands from Jesus all begin with the term "let him." The verb aparnēomai comes from the preposition "apo" (away) which intensifies and the verb "arnēomai" (to deny, disown, repudiate turn away from). The text says the man must "deny" (say something) to "himself" (a mirror image of the man). This can only happen if the man is rotated 180 degrees and says a word to his image. The diagram now shows the man and the twelve disciples saying something up to and across to mirror images of themselves.
