Mk 6:34a ... And having-gotten-out (of the boat) he-saw a-great crowd, and he-had-compassion on them, ...

Verse 34 has 3 phrases and 21 narrator words. The 1st and 2nd phrases have these 9 narrator words, ... Kai ekselthōn eiden polun oxlon, kai esplagxnisthē ep autous (And out-coming he-saw a-great crowd, and he-had-compassion on them, ...).

The 9 narrator words are top down. The 3 words "eiden polun oxlon" (he saw a great crowd) are tangent to the five triangles (the sign of compassion) tangent to the rectangle holding the great crowd. Jesus came out from his boat and saw the great crowd stretched out from horizon to horizon. We will later learn that the crowd numbered 5000 men, not counting the women and children. Apparently, a crowd of such a size arrived walking and running to an unnamed place before Jesus and his twelve disciples arrived sailing or rowing in their boats. The text uses the colloquial verb "esplagxnisthē" (gut level feelings) which translates roughly to the abstract noun "compassion." The right arm of Jesus is crooked toward his gut, signifying his compassion.
