Mark 5:11
| 1a - 7c | 8 | 9a 9b | 10 | 11 | 12 | 13a 13b 13c 13d | 14a 14b 14c 14d | 15a - 20c | Mk 5:11 ... There was now there before the mountain, a great herd of 'pigs' feeding.
Verse 11 contains the following 10 narrator words in this scrambled order, ... Hen de ekei pros tō orei, agelē choirōn megalē boskomenē (There was now there before the mountain, a herd of 'pigs' great feeding). The 10 words are top down. The first phrase of 6 words "Hen de ekei pros tō orei" (There was now there before the mountain) is tangent to the top of the mountain and the top of the herd of pigs. The second phrase of 4 words "agelē choirōn megalē boskomenē" (a herd of 'pigs' great feeding) is tangent to the pigs and bread. The 2 words "agelē choirōn" (a herd of pigs) is a synonym for "a crowd of pigs" which is usually no more than four individuals. In this gospel, any one who is baptized (immersed in water) is "of christ" (1480 christened) and is therefore a human. Since the "pigs" will be baptized in verse 13, the term "pigs" is a pejorative term for a crowd of men, in this case, Roman soldiers who belong to a "legion." The last 2 words "megalē boskomenē" (a great feeding) intersects 3 "baskets of bread" upon which the pigs are feeding. |
