Verse 12 has four phrases containing 15 words. The first two phrases have these 7 narrator words ... "hōs de eneplēsthēsan, legei tois mathētais autou" (Now when they were filled, he tells the disciples of him, ... ). The 7 narrator words top down from Jesus to the twelve disciples inform the reader the crowd has finished eating the fish and bread. Diagrams 11c and 11d show Jesus multiplied the same number of bread and fish to feed the crowd. Verse 11c and 13 imply the 12 men representing the 5000 have eaten all the fish but not the bread. Jesus will tell the disciples in the next half of verse 12 what to do with the leftover loaves. Jn 6:11d < Verses > Jn 6:12b |
