Cock - alektor

Cock - alektor

Definition: Alektor (al-ek'-tore) Noun, masculine - Cock, a rooster, a male bird, personified as a Roman soldier trumpeting any of the night watches.

Diagram: All live animals in Mark are metaphors for people or spirits. "The cock crow has been thought of as being the voice of a bird, but that is not correct.  Jewish law forbade poultry within the Holy City.  The changing of the guard at 3 a.m. was signaled by the blowing of a Roman army trumpet called a gullicinium. The word for this 3 a.m. "trumpet call" was "cock-crow." The hour of 3 a.m. was also called cock crow. Therefore, the sign of a "Cock" is the face of a Roman soldier, the one who blew his cock-crow trumpet.

13:35e or of "cockcrow" ...
14:30b that today, tonight, before a cock crows twice ...
