Verse 20 contains 4 phrases and 21 dialog words. The 1st phrase has these 7 dialog words, ... kai ei mē ekolobōsen kurios tas ēmeras (and if not lopps off a Lord the days, ...). The 7 dialog words are top down. This verse is a prophesy. The verb koloboo means "to mutilate or lopp off." The verse says that if God was not present he would not lopp off the "days." The "days" is a metaphor for that future time when War would come for the Jews. It is also a metaphor for the edge of a sword blade, the edge that cuts off "flesh." The diagram shows two un-lopped days. 13:19c < Verses > 13:20b |
