Verse 16 is a sentence with these 10 narrator words, ... Kai ouk ēfien hina tis dienegkē skeuos dia tou ierou (And not did he allow that anyone should carry a vessel through the temple). The 10 narrator words are clockwise starting top right. The 6 words "Kai ouk ēfien ... dia tou ierou" (And not did he allow ... through the temple) are tangent to the walls of the temple. Any vessel that touched these words was not allowed to pass such as the one stopped in the above diagram. The 4 words "hina tis dienegkē skeuos" (that anyone should carry a vessel) are tangent to two triangles, 1) the triangle enclosing the head of one of the sellers of money or doves, 2) the triangle representing the leather pouches or any other kind of vessel that held the proceeds of their business. 11:15e < Verses > 11:17a |
