Mk 9:38b ... "and we forbid him, because he was not following us."

The fourth and fifth phrases have these 7 dialog words ... kai ekōluomen auton, hoti ouk ēkolouthei hēmin ("and we forbid him, because not he was following us ...").

The 7 dialog words are bottom up. The four words kai ekōluomen auton hoti (and we forbid him because) are tangent to the eleven disciples and the rival excorcist. The words ouk ēkolouthei hēmin (not he was following us) are tangent to John and Jesus. The rival is not following the eleven disciples he is leading them and following John.
