Verse 33 has six phrases containing 12 narrator and 14 dialog words that Jesus says to the Stone. The first phrase has these 3 narrator words, ... Ho de epistrafeis (The yet being turned around, ...). The 3 narrator words are top down. According to the gospel text, someone or something turns around. The context seemingly points to Jesus as the one who turns but when you try to draw a diagram it is not possible. The only thing that works are Simon, the triangle he is in, and "The Stone" on which he rests in diagram 32c. When those three images are 'turned around' you get diagram 33a. Then the 3 narrator words coming down are tangent to Jesus, the Stone, and what was "turned around" The gospel text agrees with the imagery of the diagram. 8:32c < Verses > 8:33b |
