Mk
8:28b ... "and others Elias, others but that one of the Prophets."

The third and fourth phrases have these 9 dialog words, ... kai alloi Elian, alloi de hoti heis tōn profētōn ("and others Elias, others but that one of the prophets.")
The 9 dialog words are bottom up from the center left to right. The 8 words coming just from the mouths of the 12 disciples "and others Elias, and others one of the prophets." Mark identifies Elias as one of the prophets and doesn't name any other contenders. But John the Baptist may also be "one of the prophets" because Mark 1:6-7 implies that John was Elias the Tishbite (2 Kings 1:7-8), the one who fullfills the Malachi prophecy (Malachi 3:1, 24). Matthew 16:16 adds "Jeremiah or one of the prophets" which purposely obfuscates what Mark implies. However, Matthew shortly confirms Elias is John the Baptist but that the people would not recognize him (Matthew 17:10-13). The two diagrams for this verse confirms you would not recognize John the Baptist as "one of the prophets" which might be the source text for Matthew writing people would not recognize that John the Baptist was Elias. Elias was the only prophet everyone was expecting to come back. The reader knows Jesus is the Son of God (Mk 1:1, Mt 16:16) and a prophet.
