Verse 12 contains 2 phrases containing these 9 narrator words ... Kai polla epitima autois hina mē auton faneron poiēsōsin (And sternly he-rebuked them, so-that not him revealed they-should-make). The 9 narrator words are top down. The pronoun "he" in the Greek verb "epitima" (he-rebuked) seems to refer to Jesus but it is actually ambiguous. The sternest rebuke comes not from the Son but from the Father! The Unclean Spirits now see the "little white boat" is actually a "little white cloud" God the Father made to hide Jesus. The diagram shows the 9 words are tangent to the Unclean Spirits and to the Cloud cloaking Jesus from view. The 'Messianic secret' of Jesus will be safe until Jesus himself allows it to be revealed. The surprise ending of this parable is the starting point for the next one. 3:11b < Verses > 3:13a |
