The 4th phrase has these 6 dialog words ... hoi gar epta esxon auten gunaika ["all the for seven had her (as) wife"]. The 6 dialog words are bottom up. The first 4 words "hoi gar epta esxon" (all the for seven had) in the past tense restrict the words to be tangent to the 7 dead brothers. The last 2 words "auten gunaika" [her (as) wife] are tangent to the dead woman. According to Jewish law each of the seven brothers was the lawful husband of the wife. The Sadducees have used five verses and fifteen diagrams to pose their question to Jesus. There is nothing written in the Jewish law to solve this question and the Sadducees think when Jesus is unable to answer them this will be their evidence that a Resurrection is not to be. Their mistake is that the Jewish law in this life does not apply nor exist in a future life. 12:23a < Verses > 12:24a |
