The Mountain of Olives

The Mount of Olives is named for the many olive trees that grew over the entire mountain range running north to south directly east of the Old City of Jerusalem, including Mount Scopus, the Mount of Olives, and the Mount of Anointing (Hill of Evil Counsel). Olive oil was used in the Temple and to anoint all Hebrew kings. The mountain is mentioned in 2nd Samuel and Zechariah.
