Herd - agele

Definition: agelē (ag-el'-ay) Noun, Feminine - a Herd, derived from the verb ago (I lead).

The Sign: The word "herd" is a synonymn for "crowd" which is usually four representative individuals. In this gospel, any individual who is baptized (immersed in water) is "of christ" (christened) and is therefore a human (1480). Since the herd will be immersed in the sea in verse 13, the herd of pigs are therefore a pejorative term for a group of men, in this case, Roman soldiers who belong to a legion. That is precisely why Mark implies the "great herd" is a "legion."

Mk 05:11 Now there was before the mountain a "great herd of pigs" feeding.
Mk 05:13c And the herd rushed down the slope into the sea.
