Gethsemane - Gethsemane

Definition: Gethsēmanē (gheth-say-man-ay')
Proper Noun, Indeclinable - Gethsemane, a small garden or field between the brook Kidron and the Mount of Olives near Jerusalem. The name comes from the Aramaic words gath (a winepress, olive press, or vat)
and shemen (olive oil). It must have been a place that Jesus and his disciples frequently visited, which allowed the temple police of the High Priest to find Judas on the night Jesus was arrested. According to Matthew, Judas led the temple police to Jesus (Mt 26:47).
