Sabbath (Saturday) - sabbaton

Definition:
Sabbaton (to sab'-bat-on) Noun, Neuter - The Sabbath, sunset Friday to sunset Saturday, the seventh day, the Hebrew Day of Rest, seven days, a week. The first century Holy Land was populated by people speaking Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.
a) The Aramaic word for Sabbath is "sabbata" (singular).
b) To Greeks, "sabbata" sounded like the plural of "sabbaton" (neuter, singular). When they wanted to say "sabbaths," they congugated "sabbaton," to "sabbata" (neuter plural).
So "sabbata" means "sabbath" and "sabbaths."
c) The Hebrew word for Sabbath is "shabbat" which sounds a little like "sheva," meaning "seven." Then by alliteration, the Jews concluded "shabba(t)" (silent t) was shorthand for the word "week." And the Greeks agreed.
Diagram: The Sign for a Sabbath: The word "week" is an abstract noun which means it's sign is associated with an equilateral triangle. But a week is also seven days. Therefore, logic dictates the sign of a week is seven triangles. Since the sabbath is the last day of the week, a day of rest not work, a holy day, it's sign is the white triangle at the bottom of the graph. However, depending on the context, the sign can be drawn wherever it needs to go.
