| 12:28 |
And one of the scribes, having come before (him), having heard
them debating ... |
| |
perceived
that he answered them ideally ... |
| |
asked him ... Which precept is first of all? |
| 12:29 |
Jesus
answered that the first is ... Hear, Israel! |
| |
The Lord
our God is one Lord. |
| 12:30 |
And you
shall love the Lord our God out of your whole heart ... |
| |
and out
of your whole soul ... |
| |
and out
through your whole mind ... |
| |
and out
of your whole strength. |
| 12:31 |
Second
to it ... |
| |
you should
love your neighbor as yourself
... |
| |
There
is not another precept greater than these. |
| 12:32 |
And the
scribe said to him ... Ideal! |
| |
Teacher! ... On "truth" you said that He is one ... |
| |
and there is not another more than him. |
| 12:33 |
And to love him out of the whole heart ... |
| |
and out of the whole understanding ... |
| |
and out of the whole strength ... |
| |
and to love the neighbor as himself ... |
| |
is more significant than all the holocausts and sacrifices. |
| 12:34 |
And Jesus having perceived that he answered with intelligence ... |
| |
said to him ... You are not far from the Kingdom of God
... |
| |
and nobody anymore dared to question him. |
