the temple sanctuary as he is walking

come before him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders. |

And they said to him, ... "In what authority do you do these things,

or who gave to you this authority so that you may do these things" ? |

And the Jesus
said to them, ... "I will ask you one question, and you answer me, ... |

and I
will tell you in what authority these things I do." |

"The baptism
of John, was it out of heaven? ... |

or out
of men? ... Answer
me!" |

And they were discussing with themselves saying, ... |

"If we say from heaven,
he will say, ... |

Then why did you not believe him" ? |

"But if we say, ... 'From men,' "... |

They feared the crowd, ... |
| |
for all men believed that John really was a prophet. |
| 11:33 |
And having answered to the Jesus they say, ... "We don't know." |

And the Jesus says to them, ... "Neither am I saying to you in which authority I am doing these things." |
