Mk 15:42a ... And already having become evening, since it was (the) Preparation, ...

The Greek word "opsias" (evening), a time late in the day, from the 9th to the 12th hour (3 to 6 PM). The Greek word "paraskeue" (preparation) to this day in Greece it is still the name for Friday. Since the Torah says one cannot light a fire or cook on the sabbath, the meals are prepared the day before. This is why the Hebrews gathered two days of manna in the wilderness on the day before Sabbath.
